What’s in a name?

Well, Summer is mine. The muse is a little harder to pin down.

It might be a person, a place, an old photograph, a beautifully worn textile, or something entirely unexpected.

I’ve always been drawn to things that don’t necessarily belong together but somehow make perfect sense when they do.

A Summer Muse is the independent creative studio of Summer McGregor, formerly co-founder of Thistle & Bloom Florals & Design in Cincinnati, Ohio.

After nine years of designing weddings and celebrations, this new chapter reflects an evolving creative perspective. One rooted in curiosity, unexpected details, and a love of creating something entirely personal.

I begin by learning what makes you interesting:
the places you love,
the things you collect,
the details that might seem insignificant to anyone else.

Those discoveries become the starting point for a design that is personal, layered and often a little unexpected.

I think about events much like theater, with moments of anticipation, drama, restraint and discovery. Every element has a part to play, and the experience should unfold naturally as guests move through it.

I love details that reveal themselves slowly—a personal reference tucked into a menu, a favorite place reflected in a color or a subtle nod to something meaningful to the couple. Not everything needs to announce itself. Some things are simply there to be discovered.

Summer took my vision and created our very own colorful, citrus DREAM. She was a blast to work with. She was constantly communicating new ideas, bringing our ideas to life, and made all of our meetings so much fun. She gave suggestions and guided us to what would work best with our venue. We were enamored with the work we saw on Thistle & Bloom's social media and, as a result, simply offered some general guidance on my daughter's color and vibe preferences. Summer was excellent about checking in to make sure she was on the right track. If you are thinking of booking her, I have one thing to say: DO IT!!! And then get out of her way and let her work her magic. She is far more than a florist - she is an artist who is uniquely talented in expressing herself through florals. She created an incredible warm feeling for the ceremony which somehow transformed a cavernous stage into an intimate space.
